AdMob Mobile Metrics is a new report with market level data, which mobile industry professionals and publishers alike might find interesting. They store and analyze the data from every ad request, impression, and click and use this to optimise ad matching.

Every day, they see ad requests from more than 160 countries and each month, they analyze this data to produce the AdMob Mobile Metrics Report covering manufacturer, device and country-specific data on AdMob’s top four markets by impressions served: US, UK, India and South Africa.

You can download the full report for free here ...

... but if you're just after a snapshot, here's the executive summary:

  • 25.0% of ad requests in the AdMob network worldwide were from Smartphones.
  • US requests grew 5.1 percent April over March to outpace network growth.
  • The RAZR V3 and Nokia N70 retained the top device spots in the US and India. The top devices also remained the same in the UK (SonyEricsson K800i), South Africa (Motorola v360), and Indonesia (Nokia 6600).
  • The Amoi 8512 - "Three Skype phone" - made its entrance as the number 5 device in the UK with 2.7 percent of UK traffic.
  • The iPhone moved into AdMob's top 20 devices Worldwide.

Publishers want to better understand mobile data use by operator and by device to target their content and optimize their site performance. Advertisers want to understand demographics and device capabilities as they plan their campaigns.
