Foxtel recently announced the programming line-up and advertising partners for its new channel 111 HITS which launches on November 1, 2008.

The channel will target the 25 to 44 year-old demographic and will be the new home to top-rating series such as: Friends, Will & Grace, Ally McBeal, The Wonder Years, That ‘70s Show, ER, Murphy Brown, Alf, Lost, 24 and Baywatch.

Multi Channel Network (MCN) has created an exclusive advertising partnership for OMD clients McDonalds, Reckitt Benckiser and Telstra as part of the 111 HITS launch month.

MCN general manager, Damian Keogh said the three advertisers will own the channel over the November launch month through a landmark deal which includes: solus sponsorships, bespoke billboards, association on promo spots and a launch night partnership to be simulcast on 111 HITS and FOX8.

“111 HITS is a high energy, high impact channel and we expect it to attract a big audience amongst its target demographic,” said Keogh.

“It’s appropriate that some of Australia’s biggest brands want to be visible in that space from moment it goes to air. Some quick thinking by OMD allowed them to secure the space exclusively for their clients McDonalds, Reckitt Benckiser and Telstra who will be the only advertisers on 111 HITS during November. These brands will also have high visibility throughout the coming months.”

111 HITS will be presented to audiences in a new format offering blocks of programming across the day. For Foxtel subscribers dramas will be delivered as movie length double episodes and comedies are grouped together based on genre and audience profile.

Executive director of television and marketing of Foxtel, Brian Walsh commented: “The unique programming blocks on 111 HITS have been strategically targeted based on audience viewing habits of these programs gathered from Foxtel’s research. It will ensure that once you arrive at 111 HITS you’ll never want to leave.”

With the introduction of 111 HITS, viewer favourite FOX Classics will be re-positioned to celebrate the legendary television series’ from the ‘60s and ‘70s including Mash, Petticoat Junction, Lost In Space, as well as continuing its much-loved Bill Collins’ Golden Years of Hollywood hosted by “Mr Movies” himself. FOX Classics will continue to honour the films of James Bond which have been ratings juggernauts for the channel throughout the 2008/09 summer season.

The channel comes from the Foxtel Owned & Operated group which is behind the ASTRA Award winning channels FOX8, W., Arena and FOX Classics.

What a waste of a channel. Where are the 80's classics like Prisoner, Dallas, Dynasty, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210, Growing Pains, Who's the Boss, Different Strokes, Family Matters, Roseanne, Step by Step and Family Ties?. We don't need more Friends and Will and Grace. I thought this channel was going to bring something the other channels don't have!

i also think the same as you, i am sick of the same programs and they repeat them over and over. like how many times do we have to see the nanny? and shows like friends and will and grace. also there are other shows that you only get part of the seasons of and they don;t finish them off and when they return they air the same eps as the ones we have seen.
i am sure that they could find some different stuff, like where is all the Australian shows that there have been!!!!!!!

What an absolute waste of a channel, Foxtel continues to blow it's own trumpet, announing a new channel, no it's not new, all the the programmes listed have all been played to death on Arena.
Why do you bother Foxtel, why?

Welcome to the world of pay TV. When I used to work for Optus Vision, and did so for 5 years, customers used to call them the repeater channels. They give you between approx 3 to 8 opportunities to catch the movie or TV show during the month, in case you missed it the first time! It's too many opportunities to see the show, but you need to fill the channel slots and air time up with something. It's a commercial reality. With the generally high cost of producing TV, its much cheaper to buy some old footage, re package it, brand it up, and create a new channel. Fortunately Foxtel, and News Corp in general have huge resources, and they do have a great range of channels and packages, but even the punter is aware of this marketing ploy by Foxtel. Foxtel is still the leader in the world of pay TV down under in Australia. Still, 111 Hits... oldies but goodies, most of the time.

I am soooo sick of will and grace in this channel it drives me crazy. Friends is so much better, they have to much will and grace and not enough friends. I wokr hard i come home i hope friends is on, i turn the tv on and i see friends, then i press it and usually i am heart broken to see it is finished and then i hear will and grace beginning. I hate hate hate this. Tonight they have a million will and grace episodes and no friends, was the same yesterday it stinks. Before the hits chanel i think friends was on more....

the isn't enough of that 70's show, they show it like 3 times a day (12am/2pm/4:30pm) and 2 of the episodes are the same.
