Deloitte’s online services arm has won a Best Tourism Webby for Australia.com.

Voted Best Tourist Website in the People’s Voice Awards, the webby was presented in New York by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The academy is made up of a 650 person judging academy including internet co-inventor Vint Cerf, Simpsons creator Matt Groening and co-founder of Miramax films, Harvey Weinstein.

Jenny Wilson, Deloitte leading partner for the Australia.com project, said:

“For Tourism Australia, Australia.com is the primary call to action for its global marketing activities so it is an extremely important marketing channel for reaching consumers and getting them closer to holidaying in Australia.”

The Webby Awards are the leading international award recognising excellence in web design, online film and video, m-sites and interactive advertising.

Executive director of the Webbys, David-Michel Davies, lauded Deloitte’s efforts saying:

“Tourism Australia’s website win is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”

Founded in 1996, the 13th annual awards received 500,000 votes and almost 10,000 entries from over 60 countries. The awards are famous for their five-word speech limit: Al Gore’s “Please don’t recount this vote”, Stephen Colbert’s “Me. Me. Me. Me. Me” and Beastie Boys “Can anyone fix my computer?”.
