Share

It’s week three of Enigma’s Brand Summit Road Trip and our hosts Rosemarie Milsom and Pete Chapman have stopped off in Worimi Country to speak to Andrew Smith, the CEO of Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council.

Nestled amongst the largest coastal sand dunes in the southern hemisphere is Murrook – home to a sustainable Aboriginal cultural centre and series of community and social enterprises.

As one of the largest employers of Aboriginal people in the region, Murrook is empowering growth through cultural activities and conversations and represents the gateway to a new future.

Acting as an important enterprise for local Aboriginal people that challenges the social economic mindsight of Australia, Murrook provides training, development and employment opportunities, and is considered by other aboriginal groups and elders as a centre of inspiration that they can learn from and adapt into their own centres.

They say brands can create great symbols for change, and that is exactly what Murrook is achieving. Through their quality facility and host of Aboriginal cultural activities, this small business in Worimi is providing stimulating opportunities for Aussie’s to learn and celebrate together and create a new identity.

Most Australians want to learn about Aboriginal culture and Andrew is ready to greet these people with a smile – ‘turn up as a stranger, leave as family!’ He says.

The Brand Summit Road Trip is a six episode mini-series produced by Enigma. Each episode is packed with great conversations with inspiring brand owners in the tourism industry, great road trip vibes and breathtaking scenery along the way.

Watch episode three here and see how this small business is driving tourism and opportunity in the area, providing cultural education and looking after mother nature.
