Robert Walters has released results from its ‘Employee Insights Survey’, finding that 68% of employees surveyed registered with a recruitment consultant when searching for employment.

Of the 500 Australian professionals surveyed, 20% still prefer to use online job boards when applying for jobs. LinkedIn has witnessed recent growth as a job searching tool, but only 11% found that they use it when job searching.

In terms of industry breakdown, 82% of those in banking and 67% of those in accounting and finance prefer to use recruitment consultants for the job search. On the other hand, 55% of IT professional looked to social media as a job searching tool.

James Nicholson, managing director of Robert Walters, Australia said, “Although we have seen significant growth in the use of social media amongst candidates looking for new roles it comes as no surprise that registering with a recruitment consultancy is still the most popular medium for finding a new job.”
