AFL Women’s has recreated classic Aussie rules football advertising campaign ‘I’d like to see that’.

In the lead up to its inaugural season, AFL Women’s has revived the memorable 90s AFL television commercial ‘I’d like to see that’ ads from the 1990s.

The new version of the ad features famous Australian women including Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne, junior surfer Sabre Norris, olympian Cathy Freeman, newsreader Lee Lin Chin, athlete and motivational speaker Turia Pitt, as well as AFLW player Moana Hope.

Highlights include Lee Lin Chin saying, “Women kicking balls: I’d like to see that.”

“The campaign reflects the change and revolution in our game,” says AFL CEO Gillon McLaghlan on AFL.com.au.

“It is a very strong and powerful statement of what is at stake for our new league and for women’s sport. The AFL has been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and support of the women’s competition over the last 12 months and now the wait is nearly over for us to see the new stars in action in their first season.”

The original ad for the AFL featured boxer Evander Holyfield, athlete Carl Lewis, tennis champ John McEnroe. It became a household favourite and was recreated throughout the 90s with further appearances by world famous athletes, pop stars and supermodels.
