AFL Legends Matthew and Alan Richardson talk about their tackle

Men talk sport, work and beer. They sometimes even talk about women. These days, men will even talk fashion. But reproductive health – now that’s taboo.

Andrology Australia has launched a new campaign called ‘Talk about your tackle’, aiming to encourage Australian men to be more comfortable with discussing issues below the belt. AFL greats and father-and-son duo Matthew and Alan Richardson have been roped in to star in the TVC.

“Matthew and Alan are a father and son team that command a lot of respect in male circles, so they were a perfect fit for the commercial,” says Wilson Everard account director Natalie Kuss.

The 45-second commercial demonstrates the awkwardness and uncomfortable silences that men face when dealing with reproductive health issues, but advices them to step up and tackle the problem before its too late.

“The problem is that men don’t like to talk about problems with their tackle,” says Justin Groves, creative director at Wilson Everard, the agency responsible for the TVC. “And by the time they do, it can often be too late to do anything about it.”

The spot, titled ‘Nothing’, also encourages men to visit the Andrology Australia microsite at www.talkaboutyourtackle.org for more information.
