Air New Zealand is the most reputable company in Australia, according to an annual survey.

New Zealand’s national airline is viewed as the most reputable company in Australia, according to the annual survey that produces the Australian Corporate Reputation Index. This year Air New Zealand jumped ahead of other established brands to gain the confidence of the people of Australia.

Air New Zealand also ranked highest in New Zealand. The New Zealand and Australian Corporate Reputation Indexes are part of a global study conducted each year by research consultancyAMR in conjunction with the Reputation InstituteIn addition to measuring overall reputation, the Australian study also measures how Australians feel about the country’s top 60 companies on seven drivers of reputation (products and services, innovation, workplace, citizenship, governance, leadership, and financial performance).

To come first, Air New Zealand beat out Mazda Australia and last year’s number one, JB Hi-Fi. Toyota had a slight fall in rankings, coming in fourth this year compared to second in 2016, while Qantas fell one place to rank fifth overall. ING Direct jumped 11 places to rank sixth overall. Strong improvements in this year’s ranking were also enjoyed by IAG and Visy Industries.

The decline of Australia Post, which ranked first in 2009, has continued, falling 10 places from last year to rank 29th. Several other companies also saw a significant drop in overall reputation. Samsung fell from third to rank 14th overall this year, while Devondale Murray Goulburn fell from eighth to 23rd. Significant declines were also experienced by Energy Australia and BHP Billiton.

The lowest of all 60 companies measured was News Corp Australia, for the fourth year in a row.

There were six new entrants to this year’s rankings due to changes in revenues among the top 60: Australian Super, Stockland, Ingham, RBA, Lend Lease and Crown Resorts.
