Internet service provider AOL Inc has announced the sale of its affiliate marketing website Buy.at to UK company Digital Window.

The affiliate site is owned by Perfiliate, which was sold to Digital Window for an undisclosed sum estimated to be around the $17 million mark.

However, the sum which AOL bought the company for in 2008 was reportedly much higher, with the Washington Post estimating that the company lost $108 million in the deal.

AOL has been busy buying companies that will back its plan to flood the internet with content via its content management system, Seed, and related companies Patch and StudioNow.

Following the sale of Buy.at, AOL shares rose 24 cents to $25.
