Brand mascots get nasty in a short film promoting a new HBO comedy series.

US men’s style magazine GQ has published a new digital short starring actors Danny McBride and Walton Goggins as brand mascots who are jaded, irritable, Class A a-holes.

The two-and-a-half-minute film is titled ‘Sellout’, and is part of a promotion for the HBO black comedy series Vice Principals, that places high school administrators in a wholly different light. McBride (who is also the co-creator of the series) and Goggins play the leads.

‘Sellout’ is styled as a behind-the-scenes look at a photo shoot, although exactly why that shoot is taking place isn’t really clear. In it, they bring the same brand of humour their fans love and take on characters such as Ronald McDonald, the Hamburglar, the Energizer bunny, Wendy, Mr Clean, Pillsbury Doughboy and Jolly Green Giant.

Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, guns and a lot of swearing feature. Seeing Mr Clean do blow may have ruined his pristine image forever, and hearing Ronald McDonald admit to kidnapping won’t help anybody’s clown phobia.
