Canva launches video editing suite

Australia-based visual communications platform Canva launches a video editing suite. Canva Video Suite launched on 13 October. An end-to-end video creation product, it will be another arm to the editing giant.

Launched in Perth in 2013, Canva has become a go-to for marketers. A free program for web, desktop and mobile, its intuitive editing has been essential for many businesses and individuals.

The new part of Canva promises to simplify video creation. It includes templates for events, workplaces and businesses. It will also provide dimensions for the different social media platforms to customise each video to the specific site.

The other features include a scene-based editor, multiple audio tracks, animation effects, screen and camera recordings. The software offers a scene-focused interface. This allows users to break down their video and trim scenes. It will also have in-editor video previews so that it’s not necessary to save down each time.

According to a recent study undertaken by Canva, 68 percent of its respondents say that video is becoming more important. To go alongside this, 53 percent of teams have created video content in the last 18 months.

It is also beneficial for those who continue to work remotely, as it allows team members to add comments, assign actions and work on the same scenes.

Head of product, Rob Kawalsky, says of the platform, “One of Canva’s guiding principles is to make complex things simple. Our new video suite will allow everyone to unlock the power of video.

“Video is increasingly important in the workplace and online. Traditional tools have been too difficult, expensive or limited for most to use. Almost everyone creates visual content in today’s world. We have reimagined video creation and editing to meet this reality.”

The video editing is available immediately on Canva, and joins over 100 different design formats already available.
