The much anticipated first radio ratings results for 2014 were released today powered by new radio ratings provider GfK, with results for the unprecedented number of new on air presenters across all markets.

CEO of Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), Joan Warner said the first survey from GfK after 66 years with Nielsen is the beginning of a new industry partnership with the international research company.

“The industry and listeners are all keen to see today’s results with so many changes to teams around Australia but today is the first of many to come and it will probably take a few surveys for listeners to sample the various teams and settle into a listening pattern,” Warner says.

Melbourne:

Triple M’s Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Mick Molloy remains the number one FM breakfast show in Melbourne.

In second place is the new Fox FM show with Fifi Box and Dave Thornton which had a brilliant result, trailing Eddie’s show by just 0.1. They are followed by Nova FM’s Meshel and Tommy in third and Mix FM in fourth.

Sydney:

Kyle and Jackie O now have to share their title as the King and Queen of the coveted Sydney FM breakfast slot after tying with WSFM’s Amanda Keller and Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones.

Both shows are owned by ARN. In third place is Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa and coming in fourth spot is the new 2Day FM breakfast show, hosted by Jules Lund, Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Mel B.

2Day FM insiders have been reported by different news sites saying they were predicting the disappointing result, saying that new breakfast shows often take more than 12 months to find their feet.

Perth:

The long-running breakfast show on Mix 94.5 remains on top in Perth, followed by Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun. In third place is 96 FM’s Blackers, Carmen and Fitzi and finally 92.9 FM.

Brisbane:

97.3 FM’s Robin, Terry and Bob are on top, in front of Nova FM’s Ash, Kip and Luttsy. B105 are currently in third spot, followed by Triple M in fourth.

Adelaide: 

Mix FM continue to dominate the Adelaide market, despite a recent change in it’s line-up. Mark Soderstrom recently replaced fellow sports guru Mark Aiston on the popular breakfast show, which has led to a slight bump in their ratings. In second place is Nova FM’s Lewis and Lowe, followed by SAFM in third and Triple M’s Hot Breakfast in fourth.
