Insurance industry takes to mobile

Share

Mobile technology is gaining momentum in the Australian insurance industry, as NRMA Insurance reveals that it has launched its third mobile application.

The company indicates that the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) app is new to Australians, allowing users to undertake general insurance fund functions such as renew their policy, get quotes, buy CTP or pay for a renewal.

The CTP app is the third in NRMA’s mobile offering, adding to its Valuables Vault and Car Inspector apps. The Valuables Vault provides a safe place for people to keep their asset information. The Car Inspector app details the latest safety, security and environmental information for most new cars in Australia, assisting consumers looking for a new car.

When releasing its first app in December 2009, NRMA motoring and services CEO Tony Stuart said that the decision to use mobile was to give NRMA members more choice for interaction with the company.

iPhones are extremely popular right now so it makes sense to give our members who own an iPhone the option of using the available technology to quickly and easily log their need for an NRMA Patrol, Stuart said.
