UnLtd has announced its partnership with Talent RISE to deliver its latest employment program, helping disadvantaged youths enter the media, marketing and creative industries.

Social purpose organisation UnLtd connects firms within the media, marketing and creative spaces with charities aiding underprivileged youths. Its latest offering aims to break stigma within the industries, encouraging firms to hire from outside their usual pools.

General manager at Talent RISE, Roger Antochi, says, “It’s not easy to get a job if you don’t even have an ID, a safe place to live or if you have a criminal record attached to your name.

“Employers should not dismiss the qualities and skills that these young people can bring to an organisation. Being homeless makes you very resilient and a great problem-solver. Spending time injuvenile justice teaches you how to get on with different personalities, making the office politics seem like a breeze.”

Talent RISE is the social purpose arm of recruitment firm Talent International, its role in the program will be to offer education and job-ready programs to marginalised young people and facilitating job opportunities with potential employers.

UnLtd says the program has already placed two successful candidates into roles in the industry. UnLtd will be approaching more firms as the initiative commences to find relevant entry-level opportunities. Additionally, the program will be working with UnLtd’s charity partners to identify the “right candidates.”

“A job is so much more than just a job, it can be the difference between safe, stable housing or sleeping on the street,” says talent consultant at UnLtd: Talent RISE, Amy Bagatella.

“Not only does the regular paycheck provide food, clothes and housing; it brings self-worth, identity and security for the young person and can be the difference between a life of adversity or a successful career.”
