The inaugural 2009 Outdoor Awards is set to pitch five creative teams from five different agencies against each other for one major prize – 10,000 $1 instant scratchies tickets and a gold pigeon statuette.

The remaining 224 entries will also get the chance to receive one of 25 pigeon statuettes from master of ceremonies, The Chaser‘s Julian Morrow.

According to the function host, the Outdoor Media Association (OMA), the winning entries were chosen from 11 categories for their impact and effectiveness by an international panel of creatives, including John Merrifield (Cannes Grand Prix Outdoor Winner & ECD TBWA Asia/Pacific), Leo Premutico (Johannes Leonardo, New York), Ewan Paterson (CHI London), Joe Staples (Weiden & Kennedy, Portland), Kitti Chaiyaporn (Publicis, Thailand) and Andy Fackrell (180, Amsterdam).

Helen Willoughby, chief executive of the OMA, said they had been delighted by the response to the associations inaugural Awards.

“We are particularly pleased at the level of awareness that has been generated, proved by the high number of entries received,” explained Willoughby.
