Optimo, one of Australia’s leading graphic design agencies has recently won Gold and Silver at the prestigious 2008 Australian Packaging Awards for their innovative ‘4-Fresh’ designs for KR Castlemaine.

Optimo’s awards came in two categories, the Amcor Consumer Packaging Innovation Award, which recognises the variety of design factors that influence the success of consumer packaging. The silver award was won in the Fresh Food and Table Ready ‘In the Fridge’ category. It recognises the effort that goes into the design and manufacture of the packaging of ‘ready-to-eat’ fresh/ pre-prepared food.

Optimo’s general manager, Joe Matthews says that “The objective of the ‘4-Fresh’ design concept was quite simple: grow KR Castlemaine’s market share in the highly competitive dairy case segment”. “We applied a very strategic approach to repositioning the KR Castlemaine brand as a genuinely innovative company that is responsive to changing consumer expectations” adds Joe.

The award winning, unique features of the ‘4-Fresh’ packaging design includes the convenient portion control system via four folding ‘easy-peel’ pockets, a commanding shelf-blocking presence, appealing ‘back to source’ imagery and clearly identifiable symbols that highlight dietary and nutritional information across the entire range.

The awards further highlighted Optimo’s growing position as one of Australia’s leading design agencies, having also won Gold and Silver at the Australian Print Awards in April. Now, Optimo has set its sights on delivering more award winning performances over the coming years.
