According to OzTam data, subscription television (STV) currently holds the largest share of television viewing with 23.5% for weeks 1 to 21 in 2010.

In second place is Nine, with 21.5%, followed by Seven with 21.2% and Ten with 15.1%.

STV claims for the 10th consecutive year, STV has grown its audience, with a year on year audience growth of 1.6%. Amongst the free to air networks, despite the introduction of Freeview digital channels, only Nine delivered audience growth.

Multi Channel Network CEO, Anthony Fitzgerald said the mid-year scorecard reveals a healthy outlook for television overall – as one of few mediums continuing to increase its audience in a fragmenting media landscape.

“STV is not only increasing its share of the overall television pie, it’s continuing to drive the growth of television audiences in Australia,” said Fitzgerald. “Overall television audiences have grown year-on-year – as they did last year. This is an incredible achievement in a dramatically changing media landscape.”
