Qantas launches new safety video featuring Australian tourism hotspots
New Qantas in-flight safety video features Australian tourism hotspots.
Qantas has released a new in-flight safety video showcasing a new range of unique Australian destinations.
The 2016 video, which featured a different range of Australian locations, has more than 90 million views across in-flight and social media.
This year’s video features everyday Australians in unique destinations across every state and territory, ranging from the Victorian ski fields to Queensland’s Moreton Island.
It also has several cameo appearances, including a Bangarra dance performance overlooking Botany Bay (pictured), the crew from ‘Wild Oats XI’ showing Sydney Harbour, and designer Daniel Avakian on a Melbourne fashion runway (in the docklands, where Virgin Australia’s Melbourne Fashion Festival takes place).
CEO Alan Joyce says the intention of the video is to inform passengers of safety but also to make it engaging.
“What we’ve found is that it’s a lot easier to grab people’s attention with something that’s interesting to watch,” he says.
“Finding smart ways to reach new audiences is a priority for Qantas and the whole Australian tourism industry, and we’re looking forward to rolling the video out as part of our strategy to keep visitor numbers growing. We’re confident it’ll strike a chord with travellers from around the world, not to mention Australians thinking about holidaying at home,” adds Joyce.
The video will roll out across all Qantas international and domestic in-flight video on February 1. It is available in 11 different languages and was developed by the national carrier in cooperation with Tourism Australia and state tourism organisations alike.
