A disco dance party in a glass-panelled hotel suite popped up in Circular Quay over the weekend to mark the June launch of booking app HotelTonight.

The promotional stunt was launched to build brand awareness after the mobile-only booking app became available for Australian guests to download last week.

HotelTonight regional director for Asia Pacific, Stefan Cordiner, said the brand came up with the idea of a roaming boutique style gem to inspire Australians to live life more spontaneously.

“Our mantra is to live a life less planned. We’re on a quest to make travelling more fun so thought it was fitting to deliver luxuriously unique accommodation in some of Australia’s most inspiring and extraordinary locations.”

The shipping container was empty of sleeping guests over the weekend. From August, members of the public can book to stay in the glass-panelled hotel suite in surprise Australian locations using the mobile app.

Sydney Harbour was home to the glass-fronted suite for two days. The official launch on Saturday was marked with a VIP party and on Sunday. Yoga moves, breakdancing and disco dance parties could be seen through the glass frontage on the three-tonne suite.

The suite itself was made from two converted shipping containers and the interior was designed by Coco Republic with luxury in mind.

The free HotelTonight app offers savings of up to 50% on hotels worldwide. Currently operating in both Sydney and Melbourne, it offers deals on 500 destinations around the globe.
