Marmite returns to shelves post Christchurch earthquake

Share

In some happy news, Marmite will be returning to shelves at the beginning of next month. Following the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, Marmite fans faced ‘Marmageddon’ with the Sanitarium factory forced to cease production of the well known condiment due to extensive renovations of its earthquake damaged factory.

The factory has now been successfully repaired and the first Australian shipment of Marmite has been shipped out to Australia and is due to hit shelves on Oct 1st.

Todd Saunders, general manager Sanitarium Australia, thanked consumers and retailers for their patience during the supply shortage saying in a statement: “Demand for Marmite is strong and we have been amazed to see the level of passion that the product inspires in the hearts of both Australians and New Zealanders who have been clamouring to get their hands on fresh supplies.”
