Sydney Cricket Ground becomes Airbnb’s largest property listing ever

Room-sharing platform, Airbnb and Aussie Rules Football team, the Sydney Swans have teamed up to offer the Sydney Cricket Ground as the largest property ever listed on the accommodation website.

An apartment within the stadium will host a group of three lucky guests for the ultimate Swans fan experience on Saturday 18 April.

Players Jude Bolton and Nick Davis will play hosts, joining the guests for dinner in the members’ dining pavilion before a tour of the inner sanctum and a movie on the SCG big screen.

In the morning, the guests can have a kick of the footy on the hallowed turn then watch the match between the Swans and the GWS Giants.

The apartment includes a queen size bed, bunk beds, a lounge and dining areas, flat screen TVs and a large balcony overlooking the stadium directly behind the goals.

Fans can visit the ‘Sleepover at the SCG’ listing on Airbnb to enter the competition and submit their entry by explaining why they deserve to win in the ‘contact host’ section.

Announcing the partnership in February, Airbnb Australian country manager Sam McDonagh explained the brand’s desire to engage the Swans’ base of loyal fans, who regularly travel long distances to see their team play.

“With more than 30,000 Airbnb properties around the country, we know Swans fans travelling to away matches will have no shortage of great options to chose from.

“Sydney is now one of the top ten destinations on Airbnb in terms of listing, and that’s tipped to double again in 2015. Supporting the Sydney Swans is just one way of us giving back to a community that has embraced us so much.”

Bolton described the ‘Sleepover at the SCG’ opportunity as something Swans fans could “only dream about”.

“What a fantastic opportunity to do something no AFL fan has ever experienced in sleeping at the SCG. It really doesn’t get much better than that.”
