Yahoo! CEO, Jerry Yang, steps down

Share

Despite being a loyal general to the Yahoo! army, Jerry Yang has stepped down as CEO of the online search engine.

In the face of mountain pressure by takeover bids from Microsoft and his beloved company sliding behind Google, the Yahoo! co-founder has done much for the industry.

Hell certainly be remembered for butting heads with Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, but was mainly criticised for rejecting an offer of $33 a share from
Microsoft in May 2008 (Microsoft subsequently walked away from the
negotiations and the shares are now valued at only $14).

But we shouldnt feel too sorry for Yang – according to Forbes, his net worth is estimated to be US$2.3 billion and is ranked 524th among the richest people in the world.
