Foxtel Channel Group has announced that it will increase the amount of local programming on its channels, across entertainment, reality, factual and comedy genres.
The move towards screening more local content is set to occur over the next year.
Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s executive director said about the decision, “Traditionally we have invested heavily in local productions, but in the 2010/11 season the new look Foxtel Channels Group will be committing to even more exclusive and first-run Australian programming.”
Walsh gave examples of local programming such as FOX8’s Got To Dance Australia, The Comedy Channel’s Balls of Steel and CI Network’s Kalgoorlie Cops.
