Marketing magazine reported last year of KFC’s grand plans to raise money for the McGrath Foundation. In a sort of Olympic torch relay, a pink chicken bucket was passed from store to store, picking up money for the cause.
Well, the summer of cricket is over and the scores have been posted, and KFC has chalked up an impressive $319,374 in donations for the McGrath Foundation.
Over 600 KFC stores nationwide were involved in the ‘Pink Bucket’ campaign, collecting donations from customers at the counter throughout the cricket season. To coincide with the ‘Pink Test’ in Sydney, $1 from every KFC bucket sold in the first week of January was donated to the McGrath Foundation, raising over $135,000 alone.
“Two and a half years ago at the McGrath Foundation, we had just four McGrath Breast Care Nurses,” says McGrath Foundation CEO, Kylea Tink, “yet through the support of the community and companies such as KFC, we have evolved to a network of nurses in 61 communities nationally, offering support to over 7,500 families.”
