TEDx announces Akamai and Viocorp as sponsors

Akamai and Viocorp have announced their sponsorship of the inaugural TED event in Australia, TEDxSydney.

TEDxSydney, organised by General Thinking, will be hosted at CarriageWorks in Redfern on Saturday 22 May, 2010.

TEDx is a global program of independent, self-organised speaker events, linked to TED, a US based not-for-profit enterprise devoted to ideas worth spreading about ‘Technology, Entertainment and Design’.

Speakers will have less than 18 minutes to present to an invitation-only audience.

“TEDxSydney is set to be a significant event, with some of Australia’s greatest minds sharing their thoughts on stage. Streaming the content over the web is a vital part of TED events and it’s equally important to be able to rely on trusted technology partners like Akamai to deliver seamless footage on the day and afterwards,” said Remo Giuffre, organiser of TEDxSydney.

In collaboration with Viocorp, Akamai will stream video content and live speeches via the web through the TEDxSydney website.

“Akamai has a long-standing relationship with TED, so we naturally wanted to support this exciting first TEDx event in Sydney,” said Ian Teague, ANZ country manager at Akamai.
