To celebrate the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Virgin Blue has announced that it will feature its own float in the main parade, as well as dedicating a commercial flight from Melbourne to Sydney for the event.

The flight will include selected refreshments, goodie bags and special in-flight entertainment by the crew from ‘Leave it to Diva’.

A number of celebrities are expected to join the flight, along with one of Virgin Blue’s own ‘drag queen’ cabin crew team members, Ms Marion De-Pilot.

“People come in droves to Sydney to take part in the celebrations, especially from Melbourne, so we thought it was a great opportunity to quiff our beehives, break out the sequins and kick off the party early by getting into the spirit of Mardi Gras ‘Priscilla’ style on the journey there,” Virgin Blue chief executive, Brett Godfrey, said.

“Since the rainbow flag symbolises values that Virgin Blue has always prized (diversity, inclusiveness and freedom), we feel privileged to be part of it.”
