The ‘Great Google Employee Snatch’ continues with Bebo nabbing the search engines head of industry marketing, Nicole Vanderbilt, to head up Bebo’s international expansion from its London base.

Vanderbilt will be responsible for driving Bebo’s business and membership internationally, focusing on France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands to begin with.

After working for American Express, her Google role she was head of industry marketing in Europe and later in India, where she was responsible for building the B2B marketing and industry sales strategy and developing the company’s agency program – industrious no?

Joanna Shields, Bebo chief executive, says “With more than a decade of experience in developing creative, innovative marketing programs for top global companies, (Nicole) is an ideal candidate to drive Bebo’s expansion in key international markets.

Vanderbilt indicated that she’s impressed with the potential of Bebo internationally and is looking to get it out as far as the other big players in the social networking sector.

“I look forward to building upon this success in international markets where the sites fundamental qualities of community, self-expression and entertainment will surely resonate,” says Vanderbilt.

This new Bebo appointment follows Kate Burns, a former Google UK managing director, who joined the company in July as vice-president and managing director across Europe.

It would seem Google’s reputation of producing high quality employees has a degree truth to it – though keeping them on board maybe a different matter…
