New Qantas spot features a star-studded cast

A new Qantas campaign has been released. The campaign relies on the iconic Still Call Australia Home, and a bevy of stars.
The airline launched its first iteration of I Still Call Australia Home more than 35 years ago. However, after two years of limited travel and movement, this is the one that has pulled on fans’ heartstrings.
But, it wasn’t just the comfort of the familiar song that viewers were taken by. The ad also featured a star-studded cast of beloved Australians.
From her home in London, Kylie Minogue sings a verse of the song. Hugh Jackman shows of his musical abilities backstage of his play.
YouTuber and musician Troye Silvan sings over the Hollywood Hills, and tennis legend Ash Barty connects with her family on FaceTime. AFL great Adam Goodes jumps into the famous Bondi pool.
The three minute spot debuted over the weekend, but was actually two years in the making. Having been restricted by COVID to be able to finish, the ad sat on the shelf for an extended period.
“Get the tissues ready,” says Qantas CEO Alan Joyce.
We have kept it in the can for over two years because the time has never been quite right … it was filmed when things were very different but now is the right time.”
The ad has been met with a great response on Twitter.
There is not many 3 minute ads I want to watch but happy to make an exception for the Qantas one. It’s beautiful.
