Facebook gets hyperlocal in Australia with Tiger Pistol

Australian businesses will now be able to use Facebook and Instagram data for hyperlocal campaign targeting.

Facebook Australia and marketing partner Tiger Pistol have announched local community targeting for multi-location marketers, in the ongoing effort to provide personalisation at scale.

Hyperlocal targeting, or marketing to customers within certain areas based on location, aims to help businesses such as franchise systems, dealers or agent networks to answer the immediate needs of their prospects.

Early adopters include LJ Hooker, Foodworks, Asahi Premium Beverages and Audi. Each uses Tiger Pistol’s platform combined with Facebook targeting to create individual local area marketing campaigns.

“This partnership opens up a centralised way of better aligning national brand and local agent marketing efforts across Facebook and Instagram,” says Facebook Australia managing director Will Easton.

“This centralised buying platform allows individual business owners the opportunity to run their own local marketing campaigns, from nationally pre-approved creative assets using a simplified, user-friendly buying platform with preset local targeting built in,” Easton continues.

“Understanding how to optimise your content for local users can provide brands with an excellent opportunity for success,” says Troy Townsend, founder and CCO of Tiger Pistol, Facebook’s marketing partner in Australia since 2013.
