Marketing appointments for August – VMG

Venetian Media Group announces two key leadership appointments

5 September: Sean McCaull has been promoted to chief experience officer. In his new role as CXO, McCaull will oversee both the client experience and the internal experience of VMG’s staff across its various brands.

VMG is also pleased to announce the appointment of Olivier Starck as chief product and solution officer. In this role, Starck will be responsible for driving the development of innovative, results-driven products and solutions that deliver value and effectiveness within each of VMG’s specialised agencies.

Marketing appointments for September – Anna Paine and Owen Bryson

DDB Sydney appoints Anna Paine and Owen Bryson as creative directors

5 September: Paine and Bryson are returning to DDB Sydney following a three-year stint at indie agency Dig where they launched the ‘Good value booze, for good value people’ platform for The Bottle-O and spearheaded new business wins including Australian Pork and  Mitre 10. In their new role as creative directors, Paine and Bryson will be responsible for continuing the agency’s heritage-making, emotionally charged creativity for brands including McDonald’s, Volkswagen, Westpac and Lipton Iced Tea.

DDB Sydney chief creative officer Matt Chandler said: “As a creative leader you sometimes have to make very difficult decisions; this was not one of them. Anna and Owen were one of the best hires we ever made and, as I told them when they left, one day we’d be hiring them again. I’ve been very impressed, and very proud to see the work they’ve done with Dig – I know we’re very fortunate to have them return to DDB.”

QMS appoints Michael Whiteside as national sales director – advanced trading

11 September: Leading digital outdoor media company QMS has announced the appointment of Michael Whiteside as national sales director advanced trading.

QMS chief revenue officer Alex Kerley said: “I’m very happy to welcome Michael to the QMS team. He is one of the best in the business and a proven business leader, experienced in developing high-functioning teams and sustained outcomes for clients. With almost two decades of publisher, adtech and agency experience, he has a proven track record of helping businesses and brands grow.” 

Chief sales officer Tim Murphy said: “Michael’s appointment reinforces our commitment to, and leadership in, programmatic digital out of home, which is a key part of our total DOOH offering to continue delivering great results for our clients.”

Havas Media Network appoints Rebecca Tos as managing partner ANZ of consumer science and analytics (CSA)

17 September: Havas Media Network has appointed Rebecca Tos as managing partner ANZ of CSA, the global data and technology consultancy of Havas Media Network, now launching in the ANZ market.

Havas Media Network CEO Virginia Hyland said: “Rebecca is a rare talent within our industry with a sharp focused mind that can unpack and develop business solutions for clients with compelling results. Clemenger BBDO announces four senior leadership appointments and promotions

18 September: Clemenger BBDO has significantly boosted its strategy team with four leading industry talents as the agency reimagines its strategy for a new era.

Jon (JT) Turton has been appointed as experience strategy director, Vanessa (Ness) Quincey has been promoted to senior strategy director, Maya Mausli has been appointed as head of product, and Brooke Thompson has been promoted to head of strategy.

QMS appoints Meaghan Scurr as group business director for City of Sydney portfolio

18 September: Leading digital outdoor media company QMS has announced the appointment of Meaghan Scurr (nee Spencer) to the new role of group business director for its City of Sydney network.

QMS City of Sydney general manager Olivia Gotch said: “I’m delighted to welcome Meaghan to the City of Sydney team. She is a real talent, with great people leadership skills, strong connections across the market, and a strong passion for digital out-of-home. Revolution360 appoints Patrick Beck as NSW sales director

20 September: Leading out-of-home agency, Revolution360 is thrilled to announce Patrick

Beck as its new sales director for New South Wales. In this newly created position, Beck will lead the Sydney sales team to drive business growth and support existing client partners in delivering innovative solutions across the brand’s portfolio.

Silverpush appoints Jarryd Gaggin as national sales director

20 September: Jarryd Gaggin brings more than 15 years of diverse media experience as a trusted advisor across a range of traditional and digital channels. Over the past six years, his leadership in sales has helped grow some of the market’s leading AdTech companies.

In his new role, Gaggin will lead Silverpush’s sales strategy in Australia, focusing on expanding the brand’s local presence and building market awareness. D&AD appoints Kwame Taylor-Hayford as president

3 October: Globally renowned non-profit D&AD announced the appointment of Kwame Taylor-Hayford as its new president for the 2024 and 2025 term, succeeding Jack Renwick.

Taylor-Hayford said: “Throughout my career, D&AD has exemplified the best creative ideas and craft from talented people around the world. That global perspective, representing different countries and cultures has been a constant inspiration, fueling my curiosity, motivating me to explore, learn and grow. TAG expands to Brisbane

4 September: After success in Melbourne and Sydney, martech agency TAG will expand its offering to Brisbane. The agency, which turns 10 in January, will focus on simplifying marketing solutions and boosting performance for Brisbane e-commerce, professional services and property clients.

TAG head of growth and marketing Zoe Goodhardt said: “We’ve seen a strong demand for our services in the Brisbane market. There are so many great businesses coming out of Brisbane and we know this is only the beginning. We’re excited to embark on this new chapter and bring our marketing and technology solutions to even more businesses.” TAG has initiated key hires ahead of its Brisbane launch, with significant client wins already underway.

Nine partners with Mantis

4 September: Nine, one of the largest and most respected digital publishers in Australia, has announced a partnership with Mantis, which uses natural language AI to deliver industry-leading brand safety and contextual advertising solutions. The collaboration will enable Nine to better protect the reputations of advertisers using Mantis’ pioneering brand safety and contextual targeting tools.

Nine director of data commercialisation and strategy Angelo Sinibaldi said: “Nine selected Mantis as the preferred vendor to take us into the future. Its solution and ease of implementation provides Nine [the ability] to offer next-generation brand safety to advertisers, and also allows advertisers to leverage our market-leading contexti segmentation.”

Sam Summers launches 34Sevn

9 September: After a 20-year career in the media and advertising industry, including director roles at OMD and VMG, Sam Summers has moved onto a new chapter: wellness coaching for working mothers in the media space and beyond. Her new business, 34Sevn, is designed to help mothers navigate the challenges of corporate life while raising a family.

Summers said: “Becoming a mother is a huge life change, but I genuinely believe many of the problems we face when we return to work are due to the lack of any kind of coaching or support in regard to understanding how the dichotomy of it all will affect us. While there is much talk around the subject, I believe there’s still work that needs to be done to genuinely support the mental health of working mums and I wanted to create a space where women can find that support and the tools they need to thrive.”

GWM partners with Atomic 212°

9 September: Australian independent media agency, Atomic 212°, announced it has been appointed to the Great Wall Motor (GWM) media account, effective December 2024. GWM is a global auto brand and is one of the world’s fastest growing vehicle manufacturers, operating in more than 170 countries and regions.

Atomic 212° national managing director Rory Heffernan said: “Steve Maciver and the team at GWM really impressed us with their clarity of vision, approach to collaboration and growth ambitions for the GWM brand in Australia. We’re delighted to help further accelerate their marketing program by delivering on our smarter, faster, accountable media promise.”

Think HQ acquires LOUD Communications

16 September: Think HQ, the award-winning positive change agency, continues its impressive growth trajectory with the strategic acquisition of LOUD Communications. The move marks a significant step in expanding Think HQ’s corporate and creative capabilities and further underscores its unique ‘all-Australia’ engagement reach.

25 September: Sydney-based digital gifting unicorn Prezzee has appointed creative agency Not Another™ as its creative partner to deliver a comprehensive overhaul of its business website. The partnership comes as Prezzee continues its rapid global expansion and solidifies its position as a global leader in digital gifting solutions.

Prezzee chief marketing officer Jane Scotcher said: “In our search for a Webflow agency, we’re delighted we found Not Another™. Ferrero partners with Dialogue PR

25 September: Independent public relations agency Dialogue PR will be leading Kinder Surprise and Kinder Joy integrated campaigns for Ferrero Australia following a competitive pitch process. The iconic chocolate brand is the latest client to join the agency’s growing portfolio which spans FMCG, beverage, hospitality, lifestyle and technology spaces.

Dialogue PR founder and managing director Kate Bradley said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be extending our work across the Ferrero business with some exciting Kinder campaigns in the pipeline. 26 September: The pioneering online university ‘DyslexicU’ has launched following the release of a ground-breaking report that revealed the skills inherent to dyslexics are among the most sought-after in every sector globally.

Part of DDB Group Melbourne, Mango Melbourne general manager Alex Lefley said: “As someone proud of their Dyslexic tag, it’s been an incredible experience leading the global earned media strategy for such a fantastic and important project – the world needs more dyslexic thinking and this is an incredible first step.”

Hypetap launches Hypetap Intelligence
