The Institute of Direct Marketing Australasia and The Marketing Campus, have launched an online certificate course in digital and direct marketing.

The Essential Certificate in Digital & Direct Marketing has 11 interactive modules, with some offline assignments.

Malcolm Auld and John Hancock, principals of The Marketing Campus, will lead the online tuition for the course.

“It’s 2009,” said Auld. “It’s about time the teaching of digital and direct marketing caught up with the practice of it. Today’s students shouldn’t have to waste time travelling, parking, and listening to material they already know. Online learning is faster and less expensive. Why would you do it any other way?”

Originally developed in the UK, the course is used by 121 universities in the UK and Europe including the Cambridge MBA. Over 1,000 students have completed the course online since 2004, most in less than 12 weeks.

“This is the first of a number of courses we are introducing over the next twelve months covering topics across the marketing spectrum,” continued Auld.
