ninemsn has trialled a live stream of Channel Nine TV show TODAY, in preparation for an ongoing live webcast of the show.

Channel Nine says the move will increase its audience reach and further enhance ninemsn’s video offering.

ninemsn head of news, sport and finance, Andrew Hunter said:

“This is unprecedented for an Australian commercial television network and ninemsn is looking forward to extending TODAY’s audience through its live stream broadcast. This allows viewers who might be at work or away from home to tune in to TODAY.”

Across its news segments, live news and 9RAW (unpackaged online news video), ninemsn streams 11 million videos a month, the company said.

Hunter indicated that the consumption of video and news is rapidly changing and Australians are expecting to be able to watch high-quality video online.
