Digi snags for World Vision

Want to prevent a bush fire in your backyard? For this coming Australia Day, World Vision is encouraging Aussies to enjoy a snag of a different sort and help raise funds for the Global Food Crisis.

Snags for Change allows people to make a small donation to the charity by buying family and friends a virtual snag that you can guarantee isn’t burned to a cinder.

The campaign aims to bring the traditional fundraising sausage sizzle into the 21st century, and the prices are similar to a school fete barbecue – $3 for a snag, you can add extras like sauce, onions or mustard for an additional cost and, for those feeling really generous, a gourmet snag can be purchased for $10.

All money raised goes to World Vision Australia’s Global Food Crisis emergency appeal to help people in the Horn of Africa suffering with extreme food shortages.

“Snags for Change demonstrates an innovative way to highlight the extreme poverty being experienced due to the Global Food Crisis,” explains World Vision CEO, Tim Costello.

“The clever grassroots concept taps into the fair-go Aussie spirit and helps build global unity. It is both humble and powerful, a great tool for creating a uniquely Australian movement. I encourage all Aussies to get behind this fun online initiative this Australia Day. Every donation, no matter how small will help.”
