It’s started: Amazon launches in Australia today

Share

Amazon’s Australian operations, including its first-party retail offering and third-party Marketplace, will soft-launch today.

Yesterday, Inside Retail News reported an anonymous source had named the date, and the retail giant had contacted Marketplace sellers instructing them to be prepared to receive orders from 2.oopm.

Those that weren’t ready to transact were told to make their accounts inactive.

According to leaks, the soft launch will only be available to a select group of people, made up of existing customers and some selected at random. This will enable the testing of transaction functions.

In keeping with its policy to date, Amazon is still remaining tight-lipped about its full-launch date, though many expect it to launch an assault in time for Black Friday tomorrow.
