Nine Network’s GEM is the latest digital channel to be launched by Freeview.

GEM will target women over 35 and grocery buyers with varying content including a portion of new programmes, classic comedies, cherished drama series and all-time favourite movies, as well as sport coverage.

According to Nine, GEM stands for General Entertainment and Movie Channel and is set to launch on 26 September.

“In less than two years Freeview has announced nine new channels with unique content, which is an enormous achievement,” Robin Parkes, Freeview CEO said.

“This year alone, four new channels have either started broadcasting or been announced with ABC News 24, 7mate, ELEVEN and now GEM,” Parkes said.

Other digital channels on offer include ONE, SBS TWO, GO!, 7TWO and ABC3.
