The commercial radio industry has recorded 7.66% growth in metropolitan advertising revenue for May, according to Commercial Radio Australia.

The 2010 Metropolitan Commercial Radio Advertising Revenue, sourced by Deloitte, lists advertising revenue in the five metropolitan markets (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth) at $56.09 million, 7.66% higher than figures in May 2009.

The strongest growth was in Sydney, up 8.9% to $17.65 million, followed by Brisbane, up 7.79% to $8.97 million, Adelaide up 7.64% to $5.36 million, Melbourne up 7.55% to $17.18 million and Perth up 4.59% to $6.93million.

CEO of Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner, said the radio industry had recorded consecutive monthly growth in revenue since November last year.

“This means the industry is on track for positive growth for the financial year – and highlights the resilience of radio in very competitive trading times,” Warner said.
