ABC launches 24-hour news channel

ABC’s latest offering, ABC News 24, is set to air at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday 22 July and will be available via three platforms – television, online and mobile.

The 24-hour channel aims to deliver continuous and commercial-free coverage of major news around Australia. Scott Bevan, regular presenter of ABC News 24’s The World, said:

“We have terrific stories coming to us from across Australia, and from around the world. The launch of ABC News 24 is must-watch television for anyone interested in Australia – its politics, future and role in the world.”

On television, ABC News 24 will be available on digital Channel 24 and is a HD service. It will also be simulcast on ABC1 at 7.30pm nationally.

A live stream will be available at abc.net.au/news24 and on iView.

The stream will also be available on the following mobile devices:

  • ABC iPhone app (scheduled to launch at midnight on Thursday 22 July), and
  • ABC iPad app (scheduled to launch at midnight on Thursday 22 July).
