Cadbury UK cafes announced amidst Kraft takeover

Cadbury has announced a plan to open a chain of branded cafés in the UK that will offer a dedicated chocolatier service.

The company’s initiative is being fully backed by Kraft, which is in the midst of taking over Cadbury’s assets after shareholders approved the acquisition by the US food giant.

The Financial Times reported that Kraft endorsed a 20-year license to a group of retail entrepreneurs to set up the chain that will be called Cadbury Cocoa House’ and could open as many as 60 cafés around London.

Cadbury’s corporate communications manager for Australia and New Zealand, Daniel Ellis, told Marketingmag.com.au that plans for the initiative to be introduced into the Australian market are not being considered.

Australia has a number of chocolate cafés serviced by brands such as Max Brenner and Lindt.
