David Jones kicks off Christmas campaign season with Cate Blanchett

David Jones has launched its 2017 Christmas campaign with a video ad starring Cate Blanchett.

This year’s David Jones festive campaign asks consumers ‘how do you Christmas’, with video creative showing a number of different Australians planning, preparing for, and celebrating Christmas in a variety of ways.

Cate Blanchett stars in and narrates the 90 second video.

David Jones flagship store on Elizabeth Street unveiled its Christmas windows yesterday.

It’s one of the first of many Christmas campaigns which will begin to hit prominence on TV, online, outdoor and in-store for retailers and brands Australia-wide.

The window reveal also celebrates David Jones’ partnership with The Smith Family, which will see the retail giant participate in the charity’s annual Toy and Book Appeal. Starting 1 December, 10% of proceeds from Smith Family gift cards sold in David Jones Stores will be donated to the charity.

“Australians are known for taking a varied and unique approach to the way they celebrate Christmas,” says David Thomas, David Jones chief operating officer.

The campaign, which launched yesterday in stores and online, will hit TV on Sunday and cinemas next week.
