Peter Horgan has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer, OMD Australia, with immediate effect. He previously held the role of joint Managing Director, OMD Australia with colleague Leigh Terry.

Following Terry’s recent move to CEO OMG ANZ, Horgan will take sole charge of all OMD assets across 4 offices and 340 staff nationally.

Barry Cupples, CEO, Omnicom Media Group APAC said, “Having worked closely with Peter for 4 years, he has displayed a terrific understanding for what drives a strong agency business. He is the natural choice for leading OMD in Australia.”

Leigh Terry, CEO, Omnicom Media Group ANZ said, “Peter and I have shared in the growth of OMD since 2005. We have built a collaborative working relationship, and I look forward to this continuing through his leadership of this critical business within the Group.”

Commenting on his promotion, Horgan said “We are facing a landscape that is unrecognisable from even a few years ago. OMD has the talent and depth of capability to prosper in this environment and I’m delighted to be leading this unique business on the next phase of its evolution.”

With a media career spanning over 20 years across Australia and the UK, Horgan was recruited to join OMD in 2003 as Executive Director of Trading, to lead the largest specialist trading department in Australia. In 2005 he was appointed Lead Negotiator for OPera, covering all Omnicom assets in Australia.

In 2006, Horgan was promoted to Managing Partner, helping to guide OMD to its position as the most successful and awarded media agency in Australia, almost doubling billings to $1Bn, and in 2009 he was promoted to Managing Director of OMD Australia together with colleague Leigh Terry.

Named in the top 50 Power Brokers of 2010 Horgan sits on the Executive Committee of the Media Federation of Australia, and is the industry’s media representative on the board of The Communications Council.

Peter Horgan will be based in Sydney and he will report directly to Leigh Terry.
