Radio continues to grow

The commercial radio industry has seen a 6% growth in advertising revenue to $53.85 million for the month of July, according to Commercial Radio Australia.

All five metropolitan markets recorded growth, the strongest being 10.9% ($7.06 million) evident in Perth. Brisbane followed with a 9.69% increase ($8.501 million), then Melbourne with a 7.28% increase ($16.715 million), Sydney with a 3.21% increase ($16.665 million) and lastly Adelaide with an increase of 2.02% ($4.908 million).

Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia said that July’s result followed a better than expected result of 2.25% for the financial year end in June 2010.

In order to further increase figures, Commercial Radio Australia is running a campaign, ‘Australia’s Listening’, aiming to highlight the high weekly reach of 16 million listeners that commercial radio promises.
