YouTube blocks Warner videos

Not contented with having a monopoly over the online video marketing, YouTube has begun muting videos uploaded by users that use ‘unauthorised copyrighted music’.

This seems to as a result of Warner Music’s threat of legal action again the Google-owned video site over royalties, but so far appears to relate only to Warner Music videos.

Ars Technica reports that after three DCMA, or ‘cease and desist’, notices YouTube will remove a user’s account, even if it could a be fair use situation.

The company is yet to respond to media enquiries.
