Smiling Mind and creative agency Snack Drawer have created a six part video series starring TikTok influencer ‘Jasminetxo’ to help school students manage their mental health and wellbeing in the lead up to exams.

The ‘Feeling It’ video series also includes appearances from Olympic gold medalist Mack Horton, musician Kira Puru, popular YouTuber Jorden Tually and writer and founder of Tiddas 4 Tiddas, Marlee Silva.

Along with the video series, the program provides a range of free interactive features, guided meditations, mindfulness resources and downloadable tip sheets to support VCAL and VCE students to manage their mental health throughout the final months of a tough 2020. The resources are being distributed across TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat to ensure greater reach and more meaningful engagement with the young target audience.

The ‘Feeling It’ series has been supported by a $200,125 funding boost from the Andrews Government and additional funding from The Prior Family Foundation.

Not-for-profit organisation Smiling Mind is known for its popular mindfulness app, which was developed by psychologists and educators and has been downloaded 5.4 million times and has reached 5.5 million young people to date.

Vanessa Puopolo, the marketing and communications director at Smiling Mind, says the new campaign provides an immediately accessible solution to one of the most impacted demographics of the COVID-19 pandemic: “There has been extensive public analysis around the impact of COVID-19 on secondary school students, but now they need tools and resources that can genuinely help.

The ‘Feeling It’ tools are free, and they live in the online spaces that young people are frequenting the most, with preliminary results showing we are well on our way to exceed our target impacting at least 50,000 students.”
