Australian marketing automation company boosts data sovereignty with new data centre


Taguchi, an Australian marketing automation company, today announced it has established an Australian data centre in response to increasing concerns by government and company boards about data sovereignty and compliance.

The new data centre will be located in Melbourne and will provide secure, high performance servers to hold and manage data for Australian clients that require local data storage. Taguchi was established 12 years ago and is owned and operated in Australia.

The opening of a local data centre is in response to growing concerns from Australian companies who need to meet growing compliance requirements and are looking for local solutions that eliminate the need for the involvement of offshore third-parties.  

Dean Maidment, the managing director of Taguchi, believes that concerns from business leaders around data sovereignty have increased as a result of COVID-19.

“Data management and direct access to local software expertise has become a far more critical issue for many Australian businesses using channels such as email, websites and SMS,” says Maidment.

“…The widespread global dislocation caused by COVID-19 and increasing concerns around sovereignty, business continuity and supply chain surety have put the focus on where a business operates from and who is doing the work.”

According to Taguchi, the local data centre is well suited to major companies who have increasingly strict regulatory and internal compliance requirements, such as in banking, fintech, insurance, superannuation, government and pharmaceutical sectors.
