Free TV has released its end of year report for 2009.

The report found Australians in metropolitan markets watch an average of three hours and five minutes of television, while regional viewing sits at three hours and 11 minutes. Metropolitan viewing has declined by just two minutes since 2004, while regional viewing slipped a more significant 16 minutes in the same period.

People aged over 55 watched the most television, at approximately four and a half hours across both metro and regional demographics. For ‘grocery buyers’ this was approximately four hours across both and slipped to three hours 15 minutes for those aged 25-54.

According to Roy Morgan data released this year, TV accounts for 43% of Australians’ time spent with media.
