Farmville and Lady Gaga seem odd bedfellows at first. But consider this, they’re both wildly popular, colourful, enjoyed on the internet, and (depending on who you ask) an absolute waste of time. Oooh Zynga! Either way, they are both getting something good out of their promotional partnership for Gaga’s next album.

A new town will sprout up in the Farmville game, a sort of mecca to Lady Gaga, creatively named…Gagaville. It promises unicorns and sheep on motorcycles and all sorts of magic consistent with Gaga’s personal brand. She’s also working with Best Buy to offer a special $25 Zynga game card that includes a free download of the new album.

“I want to celebrate and share ‘Born This Way’ with my little monsters in a special way that’s never been done before,” Lady Gaga said in a statement. “Zynga has created a magical place in FarmVille where my fans can come play, and be the first to listen to the album.”

“We’re focused on creating cool new ways to entertain and surprise our players,” Zynga’s executive vice president of business Owen Van Natta says. “Our partnership with Lady Gaga offers many new experiences: Exclusive access to music in-game, a mobile contest, a free album bundled with Zynga game card purchases and limited edition virtual items across ten Zynga games.

The program runs May 17 through May 26.
