Share

Tabcorp has announced the appointment of Claire Murphy to the role of chief marketing officer.

Murphy has been acting CMO at Tabcorp since late 2015 and now becomes a permanent member of Tabcorp’s senior executive leadership team.

Part of the announcement also includes the review of the Tabcorp marketing structure.

Marketing activities across the group will now be centralised to the CMO function, with business unit marketing leaders embedded in the company’s three businesses – wagering and media, Keno, and gaming services.

Prior to the CMO position, Murphy worked as general manager marketing – Keno and gaming at the company.

Having extensive experience, including work at Crown, World Wrestling Entertainment, Melbourne Storm and William Hill, Murphy joined Tabcorp in 2015.

Tabcorp spent $41.9 million on advertising and promotions in the 2014-15 financial year, an increase from $38.1 million the previous year.

Tabcorp expressed delight at being able to promote someone from within the business into the role.

In November 2015 Tabcorp – which employs more than 3000 people Australia-wide – was recognised by the Federal Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency as an ‘employer of choice for gender equality, making it the only company in the gambling entertainment industry to make the list.

The previous Tabcorp CMO was Michael Smith, who previously held roles at Optus and Commonwealth Bank prior to tenure at Tabcorp.

Tabcorp has been named the global gambling industry leader in the annual assessment for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 10 of the last 11 years.

Some of Tabcorps’s brands and businesses include TAB (Victoria, NSW and ACT), LuxBet, Sky Racing, Tabcorp Gaming Solutions (TGS), tab.com.au, Sky Sports Radio, Trackside animated racing game and Keno (VIC, NSW, ACT and Queensland).
