R/GA has hired a new managing director for its London Office in Jim Moffatt, formerly of AKQA. Bob Greenberg, R/GAs chairman had the following to say:

“Jim has an impressive history of experience, leadership skills and
brand building that will be ideal for helping us grow our best-in-class
offering in London. He’ll ensure that the office stays true to R/GA’s collaborative and
creative culture while infusing it with a local flair and energy. We’re
very excited that someone so accomplished is joining us.”

Moffatt brings an accomplished history of building successful client relationships, leading large teams, managing big budgets and developing ground-breaking campaigns for some of the world’s most famous brands.

Moffatt was most recently responsible for managing teams across the Nike and Xbox accounts. He also handled the Coca-Cola account across Europe and launched the Coca-Cola/iTunes partnership, as well as projects for Virgin, Yell and Microsoft.

Moffatt says of the London office of R/GA:

“It already has a strong foundation and I’m excited for
the opportunity to help take it to the next level. In
today’s advertising landscape, you can’t get away with simply having a
strong creative idea anymore. Ideas need to be rooted in people’s
digital lives and executed seamlessly by smart, dedicated teams who can
both concept and deliver the whole experience with passion. That’s
exactly what we will continue to offer at R/GA London.”

Prior to AKQA, Moffatt worked at Nike (one of R/GA’s current clients) over the course of five years in various positions. From 2000-2002, he served as deputy head of brand communications in the U.K.; from 2002-2004, he held the position of director of brand communications in France; in 2005, he was interim brand director of Nike’s Soco (Southern Cone) region based in Buenos Aires.

In France, he helped propel Nike deeper into digital territory by launching several integrated campaigns for the World Cup and the Olympics, among others. As deputy head of brand communications in the U.K., Moffatt managed creative campaigns for the running category throughout Europe and was an integral part of a team that established the award-winning “Run London” campaign, which crossed media channels and inspired 20,000 Londoners to participate in a 10k run.

R/GA London’s client roster includes many first-rate companies, such as Nokia, John Lewis, and SC Johnson. Most recently, the agency launched Nokia’s Urbanista Diaries, a global campaign that promotes the advanced photo capabilities of the Nokia N82.
