Salesforce launches Commerce Cloud after acquisition of Demandware

Share

Salesforce has launched Salesforce Commerce Cloud, off the back of the company’s acquisition of Demandware.

Salesforce has introduced Commerce Cloud, which enables brands to provide personalised experiences for shoppers that span web, mobile, social and in store.

The new arm of the SaaS vendor aims to provide a series of new innovations including frictionless, one-touch checkout with Apple Pay and artificial intelligence via Salesforce Einstein. Commerce Cloud Einstein includes product recommendations personalised to shoppers, predictive sort which will infuse personalised sort and search results based on likelihood to engage, and commerce insights, which aim to help retailers understand product purchase correlations to power smarter merchandising and store planning.

“The connected customer is transforming commerce, creating new opportunities for brands to transform the buying experience,” says Jeff Barnett, CEO Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

“By bringing together the leader in enterprise cloud commerce with the world’s number one CRM, we’re empowering brands to deliver personalised and unified customer experiences,” he says.

Commerce Cloud is based on Salesforce’s recent acquisition of software company Demandware earlier this year for US $2.8 billion.

Commerce Cloud is available now, with Apple Play capabilities available to customers at no additional cost. Einstein’s product recommendations are generally included as part of a Commerce Cloud license.

“Commerce Cloud expands the natural definition of CRM and expands the relevance of Salesforce to its customers,” says Ray Wang, principal analyst, founder and chairman, Constellation Research.
