Fairfax partners up with Taronga Zoo

Perhaps in an effort to get that first scoop on the always-newsworthy latest elephant pregnancy, Fairfax Media has announced a three-year partnership with Taronga Conservation Society Australia.

Fairfax Media will be TCSA’s principal partner from the beginning of next year, and will support 500 volunteers across the Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo.

Commencing on 1 January 2011 with the tagline Headlining Wildlife Protection, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald will support the key conservation and fundraising initiatives of Taronga Conservation Society Australia in a series of publishing initiatives.

“Fairfax Media is pleased to support the Taronga Conservation Society Australia to increase awareness of conservation efforts and encourage donations and support of the dedicated volunteer programs,” said CEO and publisher of The Sydney Morning Herald, Lloyd Whish-Wilson.

“The Fairfax sponsorship will focus particularly on the 500 wonderful Taronga Volunteers who work across an incredible range of activities,” said Taronga’s director and CEO Cameron Kerr, “from providing information services to visitors to vital wildlife monitoring.”
